Born in China during the one-child generation of the 1980s, Suyao Tian developed painting as a personal language for connecting with the world. As a child she collected small insects, which today appear as symbolic forms in her work. Using watercolor layered with fine pen marks, Tian creates delicate compositions that blend memory, dreams, and subconscious imagery into fleeting, botanical and nature-inspired moments.
